Proponent:

Gerry R. Dimaandal

The Enterpise

The business started in 2009 when production cost of pizza business rose shifting to production of pili. Mr. Gerry Dimaandal together with his wife was inspired by the success of other pili producers and developed a new product made from pili flakes that did not exist yet in the market. The enterprise started with six employees, an initial capitalization of only P100,000.00 gross sales of P259, 750 per month, and one product line known as Marigsip. Faced with production constraints, used for testing of product shelf-life, training of workers for cGMP and HACCP, and market limitation, the company sought DOST’s assistance.

The Intervention

Appropriate SETUP innovation system support consisted of 1 unit stainless oven-40 kg capacity, 1 unit electric nut grinder-5 kg capacity, 2 units stainless working table (4x8ft), 1 unit stainless working table-(2x6ft), 1 unit electric mixer-30kg capacity, 60 pieces molder/baking sheets, 1 unit continuous sealing machine and product testing.  This resulted in increased production volume from 110 kg per week to 150 kg per week pushing sales to an average of P293,932.80 per month. Capitalization as of 1st semester, 2013 reached P689,943.98 and total gross sales reached P1,763,596.80 this year.
